I became aware of the New Gods of Mankind game when I saw the New God's Handbook in the list of new PDFs on DriveThruRPG.com.
Despite swearing off buying yet another RPG system & setting, this one caught my eye as it seemed to detail a whole fantasy world concisely and allow you to actually play a God in that world - something different from the games I am used to.
The PDF is also very cheap at only $9.95 (about £5 to me) so that is attractive, especially as the production values seem good.
The one thing that puts me off though is that Copy & Paste is disabled :( I cannot be certain of the reasons for you doing this, but one of the benefits of a pdf is that you can copy out little sections to build player crib sheets for their character's powers (e.g. in D&D I could create a small document with the description of a character's feats and special abilities and nothing more.
It is also useful to quote sections when addressing rule queries on forum threads.
At the moment this is the only thing putting me off (actually the other thing is that I should finish reading Denizens of Earthdawn Vol 2, and then read Glorantha 2nd Age, and Street Magic before buying yet another PDF! :) )
So my suggestion is to Enable Copy & Paste in the PDF :)
Cheers!

Hello Digital,
I am leery of enabling copy and paste as I would hate to have all of my artwork and writing scattered through the internet and my documents reproduced for free.
If you can get several more people with the same request reply to this post, I will enable it.
Thanks

Actually after looking around and seeing other products with it enabled, I will go ahead and do this. Let me work on it and get back with you. Thanks

Wow! Super quick response! To be honest I think if someone wants to pirate your work they will likely want the nicely formatted PDF rather than just the text and watermarking discourages casual P2P distribution of the PDF (and the real pirates can find a way around anything so, its not worth hindering your legal customer attempting to stop the odd pirate).
I promise to buy a copy as soon as the copy & paste is disabled (and I am at a PC) :)
Cheers! |

Awesome,
It should be by midnight tonight GMT. So tomorrow look for it on www.drivethrurpg.com first then www.rpgnow.com 24 hours later. Thanks
If it does not work I will look again to see what I can do.

No problem, I will likely be buying it on Monday now as I am going away for the weekend tonight to my parents (who don;t have a PC).
As I am having some issues with the RuneQuest system and Street Magic was free I might make this my next read and if it is good I will likely run it at Conception UK next year :) |

Just got an email saying Copy & paste was now enabled though DriveThru still indicates that its still disabled. I bought it and downloaded anyway and will download it again once the copy & paste is enabled.
Thanks for doing this, customer service at its best!
Now...about the lack of bookmarks :) |

Seriously it would be good if you could add bookmarks :) I am impressed though that it is less than 8Mb in size - too many RPG PDFs are bloated things, even if not scans. So I appreciate this.

Awesome,
I will work on the Bookmarks for each chapter. I apologize for this as I thought our team corrected this. Thanks

| No need to apologise - your quick responses and keeness to correct things is great! I look forward to reading NGoM (less than 20 pages of my current PDF to read before I start on NGoM) |

Just so you know, I just downloaded the latest New God's Handbook PDF from drive thru and although it now has bookmarks (thanks a lot of that BTW) it still has copy & paste disabled.
Whilst reading bookmarks are more useful so I am happy at the moment, but when I start to want to run the game and create handdouts for players I would love to be able to copy & paste.
Cheers! |

Thanks for that,
I am not sure why it is still disabled. My copy says it is enabled. Check and see if that stands. If you cannot copy and paste I will look at my file. If you can I will contact Drive thru and fix the problem.

Ahh I found it, it was a setting. My bad. It thought it was just the PDF but it was the setting as well. Try it now.

DriveThruRPG.com no longer lists it as having copy & paste disabled so I went to "updated since last download" and saw New Gods listed. It stated 4 downloads remaining which made me think it was still referring to the bookmark update. I downloaded it anyway and indeed the copy & paste is still disabled. I will try again tomorrow and see if it has been updated then.
