I read NGM: NGHB with some interest and I understand the mechanics - but what I am not getting is what a typical session of play would be like and how it woudl run.
A sample scenario using pre-genned Gods would be cool or at least a proper example of play. The example of play in the book didn't seem to be that to me, instead it just told a story and statted a few miracles, items and objects up in rules terms.
I woudl like to see an example of play that details the actual narrative to and fro between GM and players, and some adventure seeds.
Any chance of a web enhancement for this? At the moment I am not pursuing game play of this game because I have no idea how to use it - and this is coming from someone with 17 years GMing experience in various systems and genres.
DigitalMage-I wrote the sample of play and I'm sorry if it wasn't helpful to you. I was instructed to present it more as a story. The Fate's Guidebook which should be out in the next couple of days will have a sample adventure/scenario in it that may help you as a GM for this game. Richard is going to be starting a play-by-post game that actually follows the story of the sample adventure. If you follow the pbp you may get a clearer idea of how to run a game. I'm extremely busy right now but if I have time I'll go back and see if I can't put together a description of how my playtesting sessions went.
Digitalmage-Is there any specific questions you'd like to ask? When I first started running a game it was difficult to set the degree to which the players as Gods control their followers and heroes. As GM I could allow them a lot of control over their people or only allow the players to influence and aid their followers.Giving the players limited control of their followers and heroes is going to make players want to incarnate on the world or become more active in the Celestial Realm. Striking a balance as far as control of the followers is tricky task. I found that to be the difficult difference between GM'ing other games and this one. Is that the sort of thing you'd like more details on?
I just noticed the Fate's Guidebook on DriveThru RPG - just started reading Hero High for M&M so this will have to wait until I have finished that. I think a sample scenario is going to be very useful. I will definately try to check out the PbP game.
You are more than welcome to come in and see the PbP in action. If you are not busy I would like to welcome you into the game as well. But it is your choice.
I ran the game for up to 8 people before I went to my job. It went very well and the game is very fluid as the action can get instantaneous with miracles flying about. Once you know how to create miracles the rest of the system gets very easy. And creating miracles is something that takes practice.

Thanks for the offer but as I am still a bit unfamiliar with the game (I just read the New Gods Handbook a while ago) I woudl like to just watch.
BTW due to your discount on Fate's Handbook and the DriveThru Halloween trick or treat offer I elected to purchase the PDF, though I am still reading Hero High. This is next on my list to read (and I am even considering running a mortals game using the background in Mongoose RuneQuest or perhaps Savage Worlds (once I have read that) as the dice mechanics are similar.
